Every Wednesday, at 6:30 PM, a worship experience far above the rest takes place. The Holy Spirit is in charge, and the Word of God is spoken through a combination of praise and worship, teaching and reflection. At 4420 S. Noland Road in Independence, a building sits in a shopping center that is anything but a store. Considered to be one of the most unique ministry tools in the Kansas City area, The SPOT is a special place in and of itself. Equipped with a basketball court, pool tables, ping-pong tables, table soccer, air hockey, video games, snack bar, internet cafe and a state-of-the-art stage and technical equipment, it’s hard to find anything else like it. The SPOT is open on Sunday mornings for Sunday School and on Wednesdays for Breakaway. More information is provided below.

About seven years ago, the NRBC Student Ministry was given the opportunity to create this building into something special. When we started this project, we needed a name for ourselves. Brian Woodward, our Student Ministry Intern at the time, had a story about a group of friends that painted a dot in a parking lot, and they would meet at “The SPOT.” Considering that this place was to be used to meet people, make friends, and hang out without the stress of the outside world, the name “The SPOT” just sort of stuck.
